Preventive Care

Preventive Care services are responsible for the promotion of health, and the prevention or reduction of disease for the Fort Buchanan community. A component of force health protection, preventive medicine is the anticipation, prediction, identification, surveillance, evaluation, prevention, and control of disease and injuries.

Preventive care services include:
  1. Communicable diseases
  2. Vector, food, air and waterborne diseases
  3. Occupational Environmental Hazard-related diseases and injuries
  4. Disease and non-battle injuries (DNBIs)
  5. Training injuries

La Cuidado Preventiva es responsable de promover la salud y la prevención de enfermedades en la comunidad de Fort Buchanan. Siendo un componente activo en la protección de la salud en las fuerzas armadas, la medicina preventiva anticipa, predice, identifica, realiza pruebas de monitoreo, evalúa, previene y busca controlar enfermedades y accidentes.

Los servicios de la Cuidado Preventiva incluyen:
  1. Enfermedades contagiosas.
  2. Enfermedades transmitidas por aire, agua, vector o alimentos.
  3. Enfermedades y accidentes relacionados a riesgos dentro del Ambiente Ocupacional.
  4. Enfermedades y heridas no relacionas a combate.
  5. Lesiones durante adiestramientos.

Zika is a mosquito-borne disease. The U.S. Army is taking the Zika virus very seriously and assisting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in any way possible. Information on the virus is changing almost daily and getting the most up-to-date information is important. The information below is to help individuals and health care providers with decisions on travel and risks in their area. Women who are pregnant or could be pregnant need to discuss their risk with their health care provider.
